What is the best investment for a full time housewife as an alternative to a company pension scheme.?

If you are asking about alternative pension schemes then you need a stake holder. Their charges are capped at 1% by the Gov. See your financial advisor, mine recentaly changed my old personnal pension with huge fees for one of these.

buy property my daughter bought a small house on a morgage that allows her to rent put it in an agents hands rent just about covers morgage and agents fees but the value or the house has gone from 32000 to 95000 in five years you wont get that from any pension or saving scheme

There are lots of very good investments, however, be very wary of the stock markets right now, as things are not going to look too good in the very near future. Other thing is that house prices look set to tumble also in the next few months.

Among some of the best investments are mutual funds. Royal London for example do an excellent type of investment based upon life insurance plus benefits. What these type of funds do is give you an instant amount of life cover, plus a lump sum over ten years. The lump can then be re-invested etc.

If you do not like any of the above, the safest and most guaranteed investment anywhere is with Post Office Income Bonds. These are linked directly to the Treasury and Bank of England. The BofE sets the interest rate, which for the moment is about 5.7%. There is tax to pay on the interest of about 20%. It is very likely that the BofE will continue to raise the interest rate possibly as high as 7 or even 8% over the next year. Most analysts are expecting this to happen.

You can hold up to 拢1million in Income Bonds. You receive a monthly amount of interest which you can then reinvest either back into Income Bonds or some other savings and/or investment.

Edit: carol p above is giving bad advice. Please note : -

THE UK PROPERTY MARKET IS ABOUT TO COLLAPSE!

If you buy property now, you could be faced with negative equity very quickly. Stay out of property as an investment.

Think of a lifecycle mutual fund. It's professionally managed and your money is invested by the fund staff in a diversified portfolio. You don't have to do the money management yourself. It is geared toward retirement saving, so you use it as an alternative to a pension. See the webpage listed below for more info.

go get some proper advice from a financial adviser they will assess your circumstances needs and you will have some comeback on the advice if you ever needed to complain.most will see you for free.good luck
