Very little from that book. Dan Brown almost completely invented his catholic insider stuff in those books. In truth, the various Illuminati types of groups disbanded centuries ago.

Well, since it is considered a secret society, there are no certianties as to the validity of the society in question; I would say that it is more so superstition, though I believe in it. There is a book on all different secret societies at Barnes & Noble (forgot the name, but in the history section); it's really informative.

they are gone now..either died out, like a lot of odd ball ideas do, or persuaded by the church of the error of their ways
