Who is the person who has helped you most in starting or growing your own business?

Was it a business contact who referred you to a big client? Or a friend who gave you a great business idea? Or a supportive family member? Who was that angel for your startup?

When my wife first started her medical transcription business about 8 months ago, she received a tremendous amount of help from a friend of hers who has had her own medical transcription business for about 12 years now - she also wrote a book about it. I also helped her some during the start-up process. She also received alot of good business advice from her former boss.

It would have to be my friend Bobbi who introduced me to a product that changed my life. It helped me with some health issues that were ongoing and that nothing else worked for. She then showed me how to turn it into a business and I am now healthier and wealthier than I have ever been! When this product worked for me, I was prepared to buy the comany! Then I thought that was a little drastic...lol....so I decided to market it like everyone else. Bobbi has helped me every step of the way and introduced me to some amazing people who have also taught me the fundamentals of business.
I thank her every day.

The true answer is probably one you don't want to hear and of course there are exceptions but if your serious the first rule in business is don't do business with your friends or family. You will make enimies most of the time. You should use as much professional guidance as possible. It may cost some money but if you succeed it will be worth it. An Accountant is a place to start. Sorry but I got no one to credit for helping me. I got no helpers other than magazines and books that I've read. Much advise I receive is contradictory too. Some say to stay small and work up. Others say if You stay small you remain small. I have to guess what is best way to earn $'s cause that's what business is about earning $'s usually helping someone in someway.
