My boyfriend claimed our daughter & Myself on taxes. He says his kentucky state check has nothing2do w/us.?

Is a state check in the state of Kentucky based on the dependents. My boyfriend claimed our daughter & myself this year.He says the state taxes (in Kentucky) is strickly based on him only and not our daughter or myself. He says his refund check for State has nothing to do with our daughter or myselfs amount off the check as dependents. I need to know if this is true or not. He does not tell the truth offten Thank you,Angel

I doubt that is true. Most state returns follows the federal for number of exemptions and deductions. If he claimed you and your daughter on the federal then most likely the Kentucky state return has you and your daughter on it. He is full of beans. why are you letting him do that? Does he support you and you don't work?

Unfortunately she does't have a clue what she's talking about. rtfm gave you a GOOD answer that you can verify. Sheesh! Report It

The instructions for the Kentucky state tax form refer to something called a "family size credit".

In order to claim this credit, a person must be either a married person, or a single person with a qualifying child. A qualifying child is defined as the taxpayer's child (by blood or adoption) or stepchild.

Since he's your boyfriend, not your husband, it seems like he can't count either of you in order to claim this special state tax credit.

In other words, if he's talking about the Kentucky Family Size Tax Credit, he's telling you the absolute truth.

First, I don't know Kentucky law, but, did YOU sign any of his tax forms when he did his taxes? That is the first thing an attorney will ask you. If you did then you are entitled to 1/2 of his refund, just as you would be responsible for 1/2 of his bills.

IF you did not sign the paper work for the IRS and State tax, then I would turn him in under the tax evasion law. Unless he actually paid 1/2 or more of your support his lying to the government. AND if you are on some form of welfare and do nothing about this then YOU are lying to the government that is giving you funds, food stamps, and medical care.

Talk to an attorney, plus a boy friend that lies is not the best person to have around your daughter.
