Angel investors = you give 10 to 15 percent of your equity to allocate among early-stage investors.

Venture capitalists = the original founders may ultimately retain as little as 5 to 10 percent of the original equity.

There's no set equity ratio as it will depend on the investment required and the negotiations that ensue
