Is now the time to get into the bond market? |
The 10-year bond is up over 5%, to add to some long term short term investments, is now a good time to get in on bonds or will they continue to rise? It might be a better time to get out of the bond market. 6 mo T-bills pay 5%. Why tie your money up for 10 years and risk that interest rates might go up to 8% long term. That is probably where they should be. Rates should continue to rise, so now is probably not a good time. It depends. How old are you? If you are young, invest in stock. But you are old (45 or older), invest in bond now it is the time. No. The Fed will probably raise interest rates in their next meeting. When rates go up, bond prices go down. No. |
