Does anyone think that the 30 year savings bonds are good for long term investment/savings? |
How does it compare to 401k savings in stocks/bonds, considering yearly expense and maintenance of mutual funds and cyclic stock market bubbles? Does anyone share my opinion that this brouhaha about 401k is an overblown campaign by mutual fund companies just to fill their own pockets. Am I being pessimistic? The 401k is great if the employer provides some kind of match. If you are looking to buy some government bonds, I would go with the I bond which currently has an interest rate of 6.73% I like government bonds, they don't pay much but they are very secure and you can cash them in after 6 months or so.. It is a good idea to be diversified. Own some stocks, bonds, mutual funds. Bonds are super stable and yield a lower return when compared to the historic returns of stocks or mutual funds. |
