What's the longest time you've gone without a prize from Premium Bonds with an investment of the minimum 拢100 |
Also, the shortest time,... ie you invested your 拢100 and how FEW months was it before you won anything...... 1? 2? etc..... would be good to get an idea. :) The odds appear to have worsened considerably in recent years. I have 拢3,500 worth, since 1985-8. I was winning one or two 拢50 prizes every month, plus 1 @ 拢500. The last 10 years or so, they have dried up to 1 or 2 per year! 3 months with max holding and that's happened twice//with 拢100 you have to be born under a lucky star but it does happen strangely enough,it seems to me that newly bought bonds have many more chances of winning,only won 拢50 over 5 years,a couple of months after I bought them,then nothing. I've received 3 prizes today, following one in January, but I have a fairly large holding (though nowhere near the maximum) which obviously shortens the odds which, against a 拢100 holding, are astronomical. With that holding you would be very lucky to win 拢50 in 5 years, although dear old Ernie might pick you out for one of the two 拢1,000,000 prizes. i was given the bonds when i was a kid, now the hair on my head is going grey and i have NOT won anything YET! |

I am not exactly certain what you mean by "premium". If you are using the term to refer to bonds selling at a premium to their redemption value, you need to be very careful about invest... Yes its a good way to invest a few thousand - Although their are better areas it is not good to put all your eggs in one basket. ...The 10yr Bond rate was expected to fall to under or near 4.00%. Of course, just a couple of weeks ago that didn't seem possible. The Federal Reserve was also supposed to cut rates on money too... right now they are the safest thing out there besides a federally insured savings account. I also kinda like the idea of putting funds in a european bank and converting the funds to Euros. Like th... |
