If someone went into bankruptcy how would it affect her LLC?

If someone went into bankruptcy or credit counseling, would that affect an LLC that that person has for her business? Would the LLC (Limited Liability Company) be placed in bankruptcy also? The person that I know has a large credit card debt, her business is not making much money now, but has the potential later to make money. How would personal bankruptcy affect her LLC?

I have not been through bankruptcy, but my guess is that her LLC would be considered an asset that the court could sell. Then the question becomes is there any value in the LLC besides her time? If there's no value, then it's probably safe.

I don't think the LLC itself would be put in bankruptcy, because that would be a separate legal entity.
