being made bankrupt meands that everythig you have is used to repay as much debt as possible including your home and car (if any part of them is in your name) and the remainder is then legally written off after a period of years and cannot be passsed on or inherited..

If your husband is part of the business he is also liable for the debt, personal debts are yours alone.
