Should i start my own business?

i have worked in a office for 8yrs,in different aspects of it, and the corp. has internships avalible for people after 1 yr., the only problem i really have is in firing people,lol,i'm a softy. the thing is, my current boss,(who is a great guy) depends on me to train,and supervise,ect. and assumes i will always be there. i feel guilty just thinking about it. but i am sick of working,sometimes not being paid for it,for someone else. if i want to work for free,it mmight as well be for me, right? employees from my office has called me off the clock for advice,and ones from other offices too, even while i was in the hospital after surgery! and the boos didn't even send me flowers or a card. i want to get out of this dead end situation. if i do, i will see him at corp. meetings,and i will be in debt over 50,000 to start...any advice?

It must be an Ohio boss thing. I was caught in the same situation and I started my own home based business through a franchise and I have never been happier. Go for it.

start your own business. but if you are very soft, that might be a huge disadvantage.

Is the business going to be doing what you have eight years of experience doing or something that you know nothing about and are going to buy a franchise to do? If it is doing what you have been doing for 8 years, go ahead. If it is a franchise you know nothing or little about, work for someone else who has the franchise to find out the good and bad about it and then decide if you want to invest $50,000 in. 90% of small businesses fail, usually because the person does not know what they are doing or they waste money on unnecessary things.

Do you have a business plan? A financial plan? Are you prepared to spend the next years of your life working 30 hours every day? Are you able to risk the capital it takes to set up business? Are you prepared for the very real statistic that the majority of new businesses never survive the first year? If you can handle these few things, it's a beginning.. there are MANY more questions that will need answering.. As for the firing, depending upon the type of business you start, you might not even have employees at first, so that won't be a problem. But if you DO have employees, firing it part of it and you have to accept that. It is not easy, and of course you want to spare people's feelings, but you will have to also realize that the business is your LIFE.. it is your ONLY income.. and if you are too soft, a bad employee can pull your business into the gutter and kill it.. FAST! I have seen it happen.. I have dealt with it.. I have hired, trained AND fired.. not at all easy, but necessary. If you proceed with your plan for a business, I wish you all the luck in the world.. but what you will REALLY need is stamina and motivation.. Good luck.

Before you up and quit, get your finances in order. Try a part-time job that can bring in more money and is not too stressful. AVON would be one option. It only costs $10 to get started. You can sell it to your family, friends, & co-workers. You get other customers doing your normal activities like shopping, doctors visits, your child's school & PTA. Schools are doing fundraisers all the time. That could be your thing. Start selling AVON and do school fundraisers full-time. There should be an AVON rep in your area to help you get started. I sell AVON now. I love it. Medical billing could be another option. Start-ups cost more.

Sick of working? Starting a business is not a walk in the park. Unless you walk dogs in a park for the job. it is risky and it is a lot of work.

However, if it is work you enjoy doing, than its a lot less stressful and fun when you are broke but getting somewhere.

yes you really should
start off by doing a lot of homework first..make sure you have a real good business plan.
then just go for it..
you do know it just may be a 7 day a week job with 12 hour or more days at first..for a long time..
