Difference between renting and buying your business.....?

I want to know the differance between buying or renting a place to work, yu see im looking into this at the moment and not sure whats best as i dont want to put my house in danger if it doesnt work out.. but if you are just renting the place do you still have to go into a lot of debt? I have the money for all my equipment that i shall need but will there be any hidden costs? If so what...
If renting a place can i make changes to the place...

Usually you can make changes, some times even the landlord pays for the changes "build to suit".

I would rent, not buy. Worry about getting your business off the ground before you get into commercial real estate.
