I have paid the mortgage since my husband left?

The home was re-mortgaged twice to consolidate his own business debts, he is still in business and therefore has gained tax relief on these amounts. I have in my possession his request to transfer the equity to me in a letter from his solicitor before the divorce was made absolute, now he has changed his mind where do I stand

Hi there, I think that you need legal advice on this one,but in my view as long as you have kept up the payments then legally you are ok, as far as him "changing" his mind. You don't say whether or not you have children, but if you do then nothing can be done as long as they are minors, as far as I am aware in a divorce with no children the house can be sold and the proceeds divided, as with assets got during the marriage I would imagine that the debts would be the same way so you may have to accept this. I hope this helps...

Citizens Advice Bureau - quick as you can. Good Luck

No, No, it sounds to me that he is gona stick you with his debt again... If you do not have an attorney -- better get one and do not sign anything---OK He has not done you any favors by refi the home twice...

Consider this. As long as you can afford a house. Why don't you buy a new one? Leave the old one - the loan's in his name so the bank will come after him. You on the other hand will be building equity in your new place.

Hi,

You should seek a legal expert's assistance if you are keen on going ahead with it. Checkout http://homefunding.consumerplanet.info for some useful info and tips on handling the situation. Good luck!

Take it the deeds and mortgage still show joint names?

get yourself to the solicitor that helped you with your divorce...if you didnt have, one find one now

I'm not a lawyer, so I am guessing, but if decisions about the house were part of the divorce settlement, surely it is too late to change his mind? But if this was a separate issue, and you had the letter but didn't act quickly, it may be a different story.

Go ASAP to a solicitor or citizens' advice bureau and ask questions. I hope you kept the receipts for the mortgage payments you made. Good luck.
