What should a person do if they are in debt more than $100,000? |
A friend of mine has at least $100,000 worth of credit card debt plus a second against her house and now has no income coming in. She is using her credit cards to pay her monthly bills. What is the best avenue for her to take to resolve this problem. I suggested that she claim bankruptsy or ask the credit card companies to reduce her monthly payment for a least three months she can have an opportunity to generate some money from her business. She is does not want to ruin her credit score by claiming bankruptcy. If she doesn't have any income coming in then I think she really does not have any choice but, to file for bankruptcy, she could also use some counseling from Consumer Credit Counseling its a free service, that helps you manage your bills and make the right choices. I would assume that with $100,000 in debt, no job and paying her monthly bills with credit cards, her credit score is already pretty much ruined. It's kind of late to be thinking about saving her credit score. Doesn't want to ruin her credit score? |
