Collection agency not registered to do business? |
I am being sued by a junk debt collector. I discovered that they no longer have a certificate to do business in my state (although they have a collection agency license). One of the qualifications for getting a license is a certificate, but I discovered that they withdrew their certificate six months after they got the license. Renewing your license requires this same certificate. Are they still eligible to file a law suit? Sure they can sue you. If you don't like the fact that they don't have a certificate, you could complain to the BBB, but I don't think this would have any impact on you not paying your debts. |
