This is regarding my credit card account. I have almost 40k plus debt and can't pay for a year?

This is regarding my credit card account with your company. I have almost 40k plus debt and can't pay for a year co'z of job less and my husband business not running well. We have lots of debts also for so many reasons. previously i have maintained my account and pay the total amounts. but recently i have no choice but to keep silent and ignoring to those who kept on calling. i really want to pay my debt but at this time honestly there's no extra income coming and always negative. we even can't pay our rental and other basic needs. i am expecting that one day i'll be in court. pls. give some advice on how to solve my problems with credit cards.

You are screwed.Sorry.

WHY ON EARTH DO YOU OWE THIS MUCH MONEY???? Are you expecting everyone else to pay for your hair and nails at the salon, the latest clothes and the newest cars? I'd suggest that both of you get jobs, two each if need be to get out of this. If you have to do something besides what is comfortable and easy, then maybe you will be more responsible in the future. Downsize on everything! cheaper house (sell your big fancy one and rent cheaper) and cars -used only no gas guzzlers, no eating out, cut back on donations, and no gambling!!!! No cell phones, turn off lights and pool equipment most of the day. Watch Suzy Ormond or get her books at the library. Memorize them aand lern to mange your money. You don't need to be shopping for nything until this is paid off. Suzy has ideas for you!

You know, its really easy to rack up this kind of debt, even when you aren't living large. And once you get in the hole, its hard to get out of. The credit card companies just keep jabbing at you with late fees and over limit fees and they raise your interest rate when you can least afford it.
Ignoring the problem, won't make it go away, I'm afraid. But you DON'T have to listen to abusive collection calls either.
There are quite a few options out there for help. Here is one:

With that much debt you could very easily be facing criminal charges and be sent to jail.

You had better declare bankruptcy now and live very poor for a long time to come.

You and yours did it so you and yours will be the ones to pay.

I hope they make it real tough for you.

consider bankruptcy

Contact your credit card company and cancelled your account. This will keep you for trying to use your credit card. Make payment arrangements with the credit card company. You and your husband may have to sell the business to pay off your debts.

The sooner you speak to the credit card company the better. They will negotiate on repayment, but to be honest, telling them outright that you have no intention of making any payments for a year is not going to go down well. If you decide to just agree to whatever they want to get them off your back and you default, they will be harsh with you. Either way, they will want the card back and no further transactions to go through.

I agree with some comments regarding bankrupcy, you will get a counsellor who will be able to review the financial situation, give advice, formulate a plan, and negotiate your debts.

Also bear in mind that paying bills is a necessity, not something you pay if you have 'extra income'.
