Stock market as a home business?

I have heard that mining companies are doing very good in Australia. So which companies can be said to be blue chip companies in this category?

As all are interested, I am also naturally interested in investing in best performing and stable mineral companies. Can anyone share some knowledge and give out few name so I can look into it?

There is one that is considered blue chip. BHP Billiton. Symbol is BHP. That is an Australian company. There is another mining company that has large operations in Australia but is not an Australian company. Rio Tinto, headquartered in England. Symbol is RTP. Both are very large mining companies and both are of the blue chip category.

There are many other mining companies in Australia, but they are not of a blue chip nature and they are mostly traded on the pink sheets.
