We are moving to the US with amount of $100,000 that we wud like to invest in some business. which business should we purchase? shud we get a franchise. Or shud we invest in some other way. Please advise? Thank you

First of all, welcome to America. Second, I'd invest about $100-$1,000 dollars in stock. I recommend anything under Nasdaq. Spend your money wisely. Make sure you know what your getting into before you purchase. (If you understand what I mean, and no I dont mean pulling a Martha Stewart) By something useful and watch your money slowly increase. Next get yourself a nice apartment. Rent is like $500-$2,000 depending on where you live. Mortgage is sort of a lot right now so I would advise to wait on the purchase of a house. Don't work any where in a ghetto neighborhood cuz you risk the ability of getting robbed or shot or something like that. Always watch your back at all times. ALL TIMES! EVEN AT THE MALL! Good Luck and welcome to America, where the hobos are the equivelent of zombies and guns can be sold to an elementary student! Good Luck and stay away from people who dont seem to have you at interest.

The real estate market has been very bad lately because a lot of people took mortgages and loans that should not have. You may be able to find some bargains in homes because of this.

You may want to consider a franchise like a 7-11 or something but I would be careful about having a business partner as some cannot be trusted, and you may not be able to fund a franchise by yourself with 100,000.

Don't jump into anything right away.

Pick something you have a passion for and work in that field for a while and get a feel for how to do it... and if everything looks right, go ahead and launch your own business in that field.

In other words... learn the ropes first, so that you don't waste the opportunity due to the lack of experience.
