How can a business owner with gross sales of $260,000 find an investor to...?

I got this guy with a business who invests about $4,000 to $8,000 thousand dollars per year in marketing costs and makes like $260,000 in gross receipts. (30-35% net)

He has come up to me to help him find some investor/s so he can put $250,000 - $500,000 over the next 3 years to do gross sales of 7 million, (still netting 30-35%), and then sell the business.

What is his best way to do this?

If you say Venture Capital - where would he start looking for that?

Before you go the VC route you may want to tell your friend to try meeting with medical professionals in the area. You will still need a business plan but you may be able to avoid some of the cost a VC would charge. You will need to consider a VC is he is looking to maximize a selling price unless there are a small number of potential buyers, in which case you could do private offerings to the potential buyers.
