it all depends what country you are in - in the US you can write all "tools" involved in a personal business off as operating expenses - such as office equipment required, supplies and postage - mileage to and from job sites -- so you can gain write offs in expenses but it is not "avoiding" taxes - consult an accountant or the Small Business Adminstration in your area for help
