What is the best online business to invest in?

It all depends on what you are most comfortable in, where you think you can get the best returns for your investment, and whether you have the resources to execute the business properly. You have several choices:

1. Advertising based business

PROS - no inventory, no shipping worries, simply continue creating quality content, risk of fraud is minimal; very easy to set up (if blogs, it can even be free)

CONS - very susceptible to market forces (economy is down, advertising is down); requires significant traffic (especially for CPM based campaigns); need to have a good fit with advertising program (e.g. with Google Adsense, a site can have major traffic but earn little)

2. Ecommerce venture

PROS - potentially higher return: a product in demand can generate very high sales

CONS - requires inventory; more expensive to set up and requires more processes (e.g. shopping cart, online payment system); high risk of credit card fraud; shipping and fulfillment

Searching and advertising such as Yahoo and Google.
