I want to get into International Business, how?

When I graduate from grad school, I plan on going to the SAIS at John Hopkins University, I want to get into International Business, either in advertising, management, or finance, how do I start out on this career path, its my dream to travel the world, and do something that will allow me to do that.

I did something similar at Georgetown's MSFS program, and then went into finance.

SAIS allows you to concentrate in International Economics/ International Finance. I'd suggest picking that field of academic study to give you the foundation for your career choice.

Then start looking for a summer internship for the period between your two years. Focus on big consulting firms, corporate programs, or investment banks. You could also look into a related government job in Washington, DC. Don't worry so much about the location of the internship; it's more important to get some experience at a firm like this on your resume.

Once your 2nd year begins, network, network, network. Try to call or email alumni who are in the field for tips and job recommendations. My school has alumni in just about every field, working in many countries -- power companies, consulting firms, banks (like me), etc.

And interview at every related firm that comes to your school. If you don't think that the right firms are coming to your campus for interviews, then contact them directly.

With the right experience and networking, you'll find your job.
