Which one is better? Bachelor of Business Management; economics and Finance, or Accounting and finance?

Which one will gives me a better career and paycheck? Bachelor of management; economics and Finance ( both are awarded by Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia) Bachelor of Accounting and Finance is awarded by Bradford University, UK. I wish to work in Australia or America in the future...Thanx a lot..

G'day,

I used to be international students from Indonesia as well in Melbourne. I will try to answer your questions abt Australian Education system :)

There are only 39 universities in Australia and they are tightly regulated, therefore the quality and recognition of their graduates are equal from wherever university you are studying from.

I reckon it comes back to you now.
1. Which area do you think you are interested in? Accounting (like bookkeeping or auditing), Finance (mix of economics and accounting, maybe work in stock exchange or finance advisor), Management (Similar with human resources, a touch of psychology and organisational structures) or Economics (lots of theories)?
2. What job do you want to work in the future? Accounting will still be in demand for years ahead, the others are ups and downs.

The most important things is also your grades when graduated. No matter how well-known the uni is, if your grade is below average, then you'll still got problem in getting your first job. Remember, alot of ppl got good career or paycheck in the area that are not related to their education background as well.

Now... RMIT is located in Melbourne, Australia and as a Melbournians, this is what I can tell u abt Melbourne:
1. First of all... some people do not like the weather in Melbourne (you can have 4 seasons in one day). However, if you read the first article from The Age newspaper, you will find out that the weather is still more preferable than the other cities. Sure you can have 42C day like last month, but almost immediately you'll get a much cooler weather pretty soon afterwards. It is very rarely that you got 2 or 3 consecutive days of hot weathers (unlike Sydney, Brisbane or Perth).
2. Melbourne is a city of diversity. If you are a newcomer, and you do not look 'Anglo-Saxon', you do not feel like an 'alien', since you can find almost every race in the world walking in the city. They are both immigrants and overseas students.
3. THE FOOD!! Chinese, Italian, Japanese, Thai, All-you-can-eat, African, Lebanese, Mexican, Sea Food... anything else? All available and lots of them in a very-very-very affordable price
4. Pretty good public transport system. With one ticket, you can switch from train, tram and bus. They do not always come on-time, but still reliable and improving (www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au). Great for students who can't always afford to buy a car.
5. SHOPPING!!! Original branded clothing sold very cheap. There are even shopping tour, where the participants are taken to retails outlets just for shopping. Big temptations for ladies.
6. Crime rates... just read the second article on the bottom.
7. Cost of Living... I'll say it's second most expensive city after Sydney. Altho I have to say that some cities in Queensland can be more expensive to live.
8. Tourist attraction. This is the area that I think Sydney is better than Melbourne, since it has most of it's attraction within its suburbs. Most Melbourne attraction are pretty much out of Melbourne, such as the gold mines in the cities of Bendigo and Ballarat, The Great Ocean Road, Lakes Entrance, Grampians, skiing in Mt. Buller etc.

Hope this helps. E-mail saya di mikegun@studentfirst.com.au kalau kamu ada pertanyaan lagi mengenai belajar di Australia sebagai International student. Good luck for your study :)

In my opinon a BA is the best because it gives you a good chance to do many different things

acounting and finance is the better

What do you want to do with your degree?
