Can I request capital from hedge funds?

I'm interested in raising capital for a company in India that provides financial services to the banking industry. I'm looking at venture capitalists but most of them are looking for very high risk investments and high returns but with small investments (e.g. IT firms). Would hedge funds be a better place to ask? If so where do I start?

There are some types of private equity hedge funds, but in general they aren't in the business of helping new firms raise capital. Venture Capitalists and angel investors are the main opportunity for this type of venue, there are venture capital firms that specialize in financial services, those are the firms you should be approaching. Not very likely. Hedge funds almost never get involved with Venture Capital, particularly their own. They might invest in a Venture capital company that has a successful proven track record, but they won't front the actual money as the risk to their shareholders is too great and so is the liability.

Look for Venture Capital companies to present your ideas to and you will at least have a better chance of having the opportunity to present your ideas.

there are all sorts of hedge funds. They could be interested. The trouble is talking to them. Remember a hedge fund has many funds and you need to talk to the person running the particular fund that may be interested in your company.. It is going to be very difficult if you have no contacts, or contacts of contacts. You could try talking to some stockbrokers who may have contacts. It depends on how attractive your enterprise is.

all you can do is, get a loan for yourself from bank,in case they willing to lend you and you have some colateral to pledge,but do keep trying.
