I'm looking for a good source for help with personal finance. Can you recommend a good website?

It's time to get out of debt and learn to live within my means. Can you recommend a good website with some practical advice? Or maybe a good blog or something? Also, I was thinking of a regular newsletter or a regular email with advice or encouragement.
Also, I'm Canadian, so info about Canadian taxes etc are most helpful to me.

Canada budgets the same as we do. I suggest you go to the Yahoo search engine and search out "Dave Ramsey". He's a guru for getting your finances in order. He also has a radio program (that you could probably get as well), and has books and such there on his website.

Review the big banks (Scotia, Royal etc) websites, also the big Chartered Accountant firms websites (E&Y, KPMG, Deloitte, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, BDO Dunwoody, Grant Thornton) all have good areas on personal budgeting and finances.

Start out reviewing these websites or reading a basic financial book before you consult a so-called 'expert' so that you know whether their suggestions are in your best interest or theirs. There are a ton of so-called 'financial professionals' trying to sell their services and just remember that somebody pays their salary!

all you need to do is find a Primerica rep/agent. he/she will give you very honest and straight foward info, and then you will decide what to do. that is the truth and nothing but...

I just got back from a great Canadian speaker in regards to personal finance. His name is T. Harv Ekert and his book "Secrets of the Millionaire Mind" brought me some great insight as to why we get into debt and how to live within your means. He offers a free 3 day seminar if you purchase his book ($10). He offers a range of seminars depending on what you want to do with your NEW savings (start your own business and how to do it, investments, etc.)

Being in finance myself I was very intrigued by his concepts and few really hit home as to why I did things with my financing. Definitely worth a read, its been about 6 months since I went to his millionaire mind intensive and I have made leaps in bounds in my personal finances. Techniques are easy to incorporate to get yourself on the right track right away. I definitely recommend attending the seminar its one of a kind to say the least! Hope this helps you!
