Can negative reporting be removed from credit report once credit card bills are caught up?

After I graduated high school, I was stupid and took out a bunch of credit cards that I'm now having a hard time paying back. I am with a debt consolidation agency (I owe a little over $4000), but I'm still behind on credit cards. Over limit fees, Late payment fees, finance charges, you know, the whole shebang. Obviously these have been negatively reported to the credit bureaus and I bet you can guess my credit is crap.

My questions are:
1) Once I get caught up on my bills and I'm no longer over limit and making my payments on time, how/what do I say to my creditors to get them to remove the negative reporting?

2) Once the negative reporting is removed, how long will it take for my credit score to go up?

I'm hoping to move to Orlando by August and I don't really want anything holding me back from getting approved for an apartment or school loans.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you very much to everyone who's responded already.

But...
What would happen if I paid off the credit cards in full? You they simply just remove the negative reports and move the to the satisfactory section? Or do they stay in the negative and also appear in the Satisfactory section? By how much (approximately) will it improve my credit score?

Sorry you can't get the negative reporting of being late removed ~ just stay current and...............WAIT.............there really is nothing else to do (I'm in the same boat) My score is average 622 ~

On the brigther side when my accounts were current my score went up 10 points per creditor!!!! Don't keep get inquiries on your reports it shows you're desperate ~

If your debt continues to be overwhelming with fees try a Debt Management Program ~ no late fees, no overlimit fees, etc.

Good Luck

There is no way to remove the negative information. All you can do it bring it current and make sure you always stay current from now on.

You can ask, but the chances are remote. Payment history is a legitimate part of your credit history. If creditors started doing that, they'd be buried with requests.

I hope you aren't paying that debt consolidator a lot of money. They often just trash your credit by not paying till you are 3 months behind then offering lowball settlements under threat of you filing bankruptcy.

All those negatives will stay on your credit report. You will need at least 24 months of consistent, on time payment history before your score starts to improve. Your poor credit will not only hurt you chances of getting an apartment and school loans, but you car insurance will cost more and you will be limited in what jobs you can get.

I've gone through the similiar thing -- still a little bit painful, here is the resource help me out.http://creditreport.expertsupport.info/c...
