Liens on property?

I was told that NC is not a community property state and a creditor/collection agency could not put a lien on property or levy a bank account that is jointly owned ( the debt is not joint). (house is not paid for, it is 100% financed) Is this true?
I was told that a creditor could foreclose on your house, is this true?

My husband and I do not share the same debts. The CC debt that is in collection is in my name only.
We do not have any debts that are joint. The house loan is only in his name.

you were told wrong. if a husband and wife share the same, well,
let me put this simply, anything, you, as long as you are married, share the same debts, all and in whole.
you need to seek out a financial adviser asap.
