Best ways to get out of debt?

I'm about 20,000 dollars in debt.. Well between me and my finance. What are some good ways to get out of debt? or better our credit scores?

Write letters to the credit agencies and demand that they check all the negative reports on your statements. By law, they have 30 days to verify or the reports get dropped. That can help. Other than that, pay twice the minimum on your revolving credit, always on time, and pay off the highest interest rates first.

good luck.

Only make necessary purchases.

make a budget, write down everything you spend money on daily.
instead of eating out pay down your debt. concentrate on paying off 1 credit card , just pick one , once you pay it off use that monthly money and pick another card and concentrate on paying that one off, and so on and so on.

Pay off highest interest rate card first, try to find cards that have low rates or a fixed rate for the life of the debt, I know AMEX and CHASE both offer this. Possibly look at consolidation, and best thing would be to stop charging.

Stop buying and purchasing, cut up most of your credit cards except for one with a small balance to keep for emergencies or car rentals.

Start by paying off everything one bill at a time. You both can take everything put it on the table and do 50/50 or choose the bills that need to be paid off in time and pay on those and the smaller purchases or bills pay completely off.

Afte each payment you will better your credit score but do not close all of your accounts because the Creditors need to see a running monthly payment that has been in good standing for at least 6 months.

Grind up your credit cards, stop spending money for things you cannot afford and come up with a payment plan where you pay a portion of the $20,000 each and every month. Only spend the bare minimum you need to survive. Now the hard part. DISCIPLINE. You have to stop wasting money, if it makes you feel cheap or suffer, too bad. There are no easy ways to get out of the hole you dug, but it can be done with short-term sacrifice and hard work. Also, get a hold of your credit reports from the three major agencies and keep writing to them to remove any negative information whether it is right or wrong. A lot of times they will take it off if you continue to pester them. That alone will gradually improve your FICO numbers.

Debt management plans are great, and may be helpful for you. Talk to a credit counselor about it at least.

begin making payments to all creditors...something that you can afford to pay...as long as you're paying them on time, your credit score will increase. as long as you're breathing, you're gonna be in some kind of debt. there's no way around that. just manage your money the right way,it will take time, but you will soon see positive changes in your credit scores. good luck.

There are many debt consolidation counselors however you can do it on your own if you have a good programs. My wife and I got out of 16,000.00 in debt just two months ago! It took us a while but we did it. Anyways after looking around online for you I found a great website that has a list of 10 programs you can sign up with to help you get out of debt on your own without a counselor or more debt. The exact address is http://www.mm-review.com/money/2.html check them out and see what they can offer you. Best of luck!!

Shut your budget down bare essentials. Pay off the highest interest debts first (usually credit cards). If your credit score is better than about 550 or so you might can get a bank to give you a lower-interest note to pay off the bulk of the higher-interest debts.

There really is no quick-n-easy fix.

Supplement your income. Jennifer

Cut out all non-essential spending, start working out what needs to be paid in priority, phone your debtors and arrange lower interest rates and plug away little by little as your income allows..watch all food costs (in and out), watch all costs on everything, cutting back as necessary (lights, gas, etc) and you will win!!
