I'm not happy with the company handling my RRSP. Can I move it? |
I am Canadian and living in the USA. I can't come home till next summer and want to change companies. Can it be done and if so, can I do it long distance? Also, is it possible to self direct your RRSP? I have been trusting and complacent with this investment and as a result it's earned less then it would in a savings account. I'm trying to educate myself so that I can invest it properly. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. Assuming you don't like the investment options with your current RRSP carrier, you can use the T2033 Form (a CRA form) to transfer the the balance from your current RRSP carrier to another carrier. You should be able to do it all via mail and/or fax with your new RRSP carrier. Self-directed RRSP plans are also available here in Canada. |
