Difference between foreign direct invest ment and FII and Foreign portfolio investment?

SIMPLY PUT BASICALLY FDI MEANS INVESTMENT BY FOREIGNERS IN PHYSICAL INFRASTRUCTURE OR BUYING OF COMPANIES ETC, FII(FOREIGN INSTITUTIONAL INVESTMENT)MEANS BUYING OF SHARES/BONDS ETC BY FOREIGN FUND MANAGERS, HEDGE FUNDS ETC. MORE OF EITHER OR BOTH WILL MORE LIKELY THAN NOT CAUSE THE HOME CURRENCY APPRECIATE IN VALUE.

Trust, the difference between FDI & FII is clear to you.
As regards foreign portfolio investment, it is a situation where a foreign fund invests foreing capital in our capital markets.
In a nutshell, FDI is direct investment in physical infrastructure.
FII is investment by subscribing to funds
FPI is FDI in capital markets.

foreign direct investment- means investment by any foreign fund weather it may be FII or Any corporate body or any other country's govt . DIRECTLY IN ANY COMPANY /INDUSTRY/ PROJECT.
FII- means Foreign Istitutional Investotr who invest in any company's equity, debenture, bonds Or In any mutual fund
