I really need to earn some money but I'm only 12, and can't get a job. Do you have any ideas on how a 12 year old can earn some money?
plz plz plz help If you're good with kids, babysit. If you're good with dogs, dogsit or have a dog walking service. Offer to pick up your neighbor's mail and newspapers while they're on vacation. If you're not ready to babysit on your own, try being a mother's helper. That means you watch and play with the kid while the mother is still there at the house, so she can get work done or have time to herself and you keep the kid occupied. I only reccomend this if you enjoy playing with children. 12 year olds arent allowed on here. Go away or i'll report you. soz that i can't help but i'm 11 and need to earn money so i'm givin u a star! The only way to earn some money at your age is a paper round. Its easy money. Another way is if your parents employ you. If they own their own business maybe you could do some little jobs for them. You could even do some housework and ask them if they will pay you, otherwise you will just have to wait until your 16! You should definitely start baby sitting kids, being a mothers helper your local swimming pool (especially because it's summer!), and you could also watch your neighbors or your friends pets when they go away. Those are some ideas of mine. Good luck! :) u cant soz, wait till ur 13 n u can get a paper round I learnt dat 13 yrs below aren't allowed on Yahoo! answers.
But since u need one, I'll tell u wat?, u can go help Ur grandparents or help neighbours.
I don't really have a suggestion bcos it's hard 2 find jobs at an age like Urs. U can ask ur parents. doing odd jobs for friends and relatives such as walking the dog, extra jobs round the house, helping people with their shopping and such like The best way for a 12 yr old to earn some cash would be doing jobs through family friends, neighbors, and other people that the parent trusts.
Warren Buffett said that the best jobs to take on are the ones that no one else wants to do. Yard work, grocery shopping for the handicapped or elderly, car wash, etc. You can try babysitting/petsitting for people in your neighborhood. You may also want to try mowing people's lawns if you have access to a lawnmower and/or are allowed to use it. A paper route is also a good way to make some money. You may want to see if there are any elderly people that you know who need help with household chores, etc.
Good luck You could do some odd jobs around the house and asked to be paid?
Or you could go around washing cars? Its a start but you can't get a proper job until your 13 Maybe a paper round, or you can do odd jobs for neighbours perhaps (such as grass mowing, or dog walking)? Make sure you get your parents permission, and only ask neighbours that you know. Or you could ask your parents if you could do jobs around the house. First, whatever you do try to be safe. Don't work for an adult you don't know or with whom you feel uncomfortable.
That said, be creative! Can you paint a fence or shed for a neighbor? Can you rake lawns, hoe or weed a garden? Are your computer or reading skills so good that you could help tutor a younger child in your neighborhood who is having difficulties (or even set up a computer for an older person or teach them simple software)?
Could you collect aluminum cans in a park or along a street, etc. near you and sell them to recyclers?
Could you offer to clean neighbors' garages and dispose of their recycling and junk? Can you wash and vacuum cars for neighbors?
Try to negotiate a good price before you start. Talk like an adult, be professional and polite. Later, these people can give you personal references for a job.
Best of luck! Do odd jobs round the house like washing your parents car(s) mow the lawn do a few chores your may choose to give you a set amount of money for each chore you complete or you can offer to do odd jobs for your grandparents walk neighbours dogs clean their cars you could try for a paper round but from what i know children under the age of 13 aren't allowed to work Make a job sheet of things you can do around the house and ask your parents if they would price them.
My Dad did this for me and it was pinned on the wall so there were no arguments.
For example, weeding the front garden 50p
taking dog for 1 hour walk 50p
washing car 拢1.00
cleaning windows 拢2.00
sweeping the drive 50p
Remember that the minimum wage for an adult isn't much over 拢5 an hour. I think it's great your thinking about earning cash and getting a job. The problem is that your not of legal age to have a job.
I recommend you start collecting scrap metal and 'coca-cola' bottles and exchanging them for cash at the recycling plant. Another suggestion is to get creative and make things to sell at the local market around your area. This is how i started out. I made jewellery and sold them at the local fair. Be sure to have adult supervision if you decide to take this option. Good Luck! :) Good Question!
Earning your own money is one of the best educational experiences a young person can have!
Household chores are good if your parents are willing to pay you for extra work. Obviously, some chores are mandatory and part of the familial contract. You can offer to mow the lawn, clean the kitchen, take out the trash everyday for a week. For some hard-working parents, just keeping your own room clean and tidy is worth some extra allowance.
Also, every parent wants to encourage academic performance. If your parents are amenable, you can probably negotiate some financial reward for every "A" on your report card.
Some parents, ( the really smart ones) absolutely love it when their kids show initiative to learn independently. That means, if you didn't know any of the words I used in this answer, look them up! If you start using them in your own speech, educated parents may just GIVE you money because you are so smart!
By the way, I have to complement you on your spelling, punctuation and grammar. I've seen a lot of questions by older people that showed far less respect and knowledge for proper communication. If you are only 12 and your are already so competent, I am sure you will not only earn money soon, but that you can be successful at anything you try to do.
Here are some other ideas:
Clean or organize anything! ,,,Garage, basement, steps, kitchen, spare rooms, car, trunk, attic etc.
Go above and beyond the call of duty with household chores. Offer to do extra laundry (Mom or Dad's). Do it right too! Don't ruin clothing. Separate colors from dark and light clothing. Use the proper amounts of cleaning detergent. Clean the lint filter before every dryer cycle. Fold fold-ables neatly and put them away. Hang up hang-ables neatly and carefully. Use the correct types of hangers. (suit hangers for suits, cheap wire hangers for less expensive stuff.
Do the dishes after dinner. Busy working moms and dads work all day. Anything you can do to lessen their work-load at home will be appreciated!
Paint addresses on curbs in your neighborhood. (Be sure to be safe and get permission first!)
Offer to mow neighbor's yard, pile firewood, rake leaves, water gardens or lawns, remove trash, separate recycling.
Demonstrate academic excellence.
Say please and thank you a lot!
You sound like a smart kid. Just stay on your personal path. Keep reading, thinking and asking questions. Use your power of observation to see what things your parents need help with, then offer to help them before they have a chance to ask.
I can almost guarantee they will offer to pay you or let you try these ideas with your neighbors. Either way, you will learn a lot and probably get money too!
Best Wishes! Good luck! Hey Emma.
Well, I'm rather impressed - the fact that you are even asking the question shows that you have a head on your shoulders with a brain that is light years ahead of some of your friends, I am sure.
I find it interesting that almost all the answers refer to the fact that in order to make money you need a job...
The answer I believe you are looking for is written on the side of a 拢2 coin.
Seriously.
Go and find one and read what it says.
And perhaps you will start to understand that the way to make money is... NOT having a job.
But what if you could create jobs for other people (and let's imagine they were of an age where they are legally allowed to work etc. etc. etc...)
Well, let's imagine (because I'm guessing this is not something you would probably want to do?) that you could organise a car washing event or... well, I don't know what - that will come to you when you start looking for it...
Let's play with some numbers - I have no idea what the actual amounts may be...
Let's imagine you charge 拢2 per car, let's imagine you pay your friends 拢1 per car...
And let's imagine your parents give you the soap etc in exchange for doing some task in the house...
Well, I don't know - but let's say your friends wash 100 cars over a couple of weekends...
Well, Emma, help me out with the maths here.
Could you, by using your head and your very good organising & communication skills perhaps make in the region of 拢100 by getting others to work for you?
I guess the point that I'm trying to make is... if you use your head instead of your own muscles, you could become wealthier than you (or anyone else who has a job...) could ever imagine!!!
Or I guess you could go out and wash cars yourself and make a couple of quid...
But hey - go and find yourself a lucky 拢2 coin - and keep the knowledge that is written on the side of it close to your heart.
Best of luck.
