How can I earn/save money?

I really really really want a MacBook. It costs $999 with my dad's teacher discount (he promised to use it if I raised the money). My allowance depends on how much I do around the house. I have around $200 saved so far, but it's not nearly enough. I WANT THE MACBOOK NOW! How can I earn and save about $800?!?!

I'm 13, so a REAL job isn't really an option.

i keep telling you to at least TRY babysitting

also, maybe u culd try doing more around the home. i mean, the average allowance isnt $800, but it'll help at least a bit

another way wuld be selling stuff. Ebay? Yardsales? those r all pretty good money makers

there's also those "get rich" things that some ppl have been talking about (be warned: they dont actually work that well)
mowing lawns
shoveling snow
DOG sitting/walking (you'd love that, its fun)
Alpaca and/or llama breeding (jk)
Stock market (yes, kids can do that, u just need a bank account, but be warned: you've gotta be lucky)

basically, the point is, there is an infinite amount of ways to make money

find a part time job, theres even those jobs where you just stuff flyer's in envelopes and its like 10 cents each flyer, and theres usually like 400-500 look for it in the newspaper, depending how old you are you really should start being independent its always good to have a occupation history and you learn so many skills every time

If you are not old enough to get a real job, there are a lot of things you can do to make money around the house and neighborhood. When I was little, I used to make holiday decorations and go door to door and sell them. I remember one was "ghosts" for Halloween...I wrapped a kleenex around another wadded up kleenex and tied a piece of yarn aroud to make a neck. I sold them for 25 cents each, 3 for 50 cents. I was only about 9 at the time, so I think that people just bought them because I was a cute little girl.

My point is, be creative. Anything you do for allowance money around the house, your neighbors will probably pay you to do, too, especially older people, and busy moms. Make a list of the things you can do on your own (like dusting and vaccuuming), and a list of things you can help them do (like cleaning out the garage or basement).

You can charge by the hour for smaller jobs, and maybe come up with a flat fee for big jobs. Talk to your parents about how to come up with a fair amount to charge.

You could even offer to baby sit after school and on weekends, if you think you would like doing that.

In the summer, offer to mow lawns and help with yardwork, and in the winter, shovel snow.

Ask your parents if you can have a garage sale, and anything that you sell of your's, you get to keep the money, like old toys, video games, sports equipment, etc. Offer to help them organize and advertise it.
