I need a reasonable way for an 11 yr. old to earn money.?

One reason for earning the money is she is having a summer party and needs a LEGAL (ha ha) way to make money for it.Another reason is that she would like to get extra things for herself but not rely on her mother and father.

These might not be good ones but there the only ones I could think of. (At the time I tpyed this)
1.Have a lemonade stand.
2.Have like her and 2 of her friends babysit.
3.Have her do chores around the house and you could pay her a little bit.
4.Maybe she could be a paper girl.(Well call you local newspaper company) also she may be a little young to do that depending where you live
5.Maybe she could walk your neighbors dogs.(If they have any) and she could get paid
6.She could weed. (Example help your neighbors in their yard like weeding or planting flowers.)
IF I CAN THINK OF ANYMORE IDEAS I WILL SUBMIT THEM

Have him do chores.

Taking care of pets and watering plants/grass...doesn't require lots of skill but is a terrific way to learn responsiblity....also selling old toys in a garage sale...what do you think? My son is the same age and we are trying to earn cash for vacation....so if you hear of something great....let me know....

a reasonable way for an 11 yy. old to make money would be doing things in your neighborhood.for instance. cutting grass(i leaned how when i was 9),walking dogs, washing cars,.join tournaments like fishing and gaming tournaments.

Well you can start by mowing a nieghbors yard and ask for a few bucks. Then ask to mow everyones yard on the block and then become known to the people on your block so that they could ask you to do it again. Then you put up signs around town with your phone number saying that you will mow lawns for some money. But don't make your prices outrageous or they won't pay you!! Another way is to sell pop and water at a parade of some sort but get a permit from the city first so you do not get in trouble!!
Good luck

Why doesn't she start a "yard cleaning" business, where once a week she goes around and cleans up the dog poo in people's back yards? It's a job everyone hates to do, and she could probably make good money in a really short period of time . . .figure one dog, pooping twice a day, seven days a week, if she charged $.25 per poop, she'd get $3.50, and how long would it take? maybe 15 minutes. She could be making $15 - $20 an hour doing that.

delivering papers
doing odd jobs for other people
doing gardening for people
walking peoples dogs
babysitting (if you think she's old enough)

Maybe doing chores for neighbors that can not do it themselves. Whatever it is please put the child's safety first only help people you know very well and check in on things from time to time.

You can have your daughter walk around your neighborhood and collect aluminum cans. She can take these to your loacl recycling center and trade them in for money. You can also have her do chores, but that tends to get eye rolls.

Babysitting, yardwork, paper delivery, pet sitting/walking are ways she could earn money.

By no stretch of the imagination am I old (39). But am I old fashioned for thinking what I did at that same age to EARN money is no longer good enough? Summertime is great for car washes, lawn mowing, other outside chores such as bathing animals etc... There is also the normal day to day things that we earned allowance for; doing dishes, taking out the trash, laundry and cleaning our rooms. I personally think these are perfectly fine ways for a child in that age to earn money. I also say good for her for wanting to pull her own weight.

Do you like art or crafts? Could you buy supplies to make things and sell? Jewerly, picture frames, other crafts always sell. Do you live near a school or recreation center- open a lemonade stand when they are busy. Do you sew? Quilt doll blankets. What is something that you love and try to figure out something you can do involving that. I have had many jobs and one thing I have learned is you do your job better and enjoy work when you love what you do. If you love pets how about a pet sitting service or grooming. Learn all you can about what you love, find your special twist and do it better than then the competion.

I would suggest a newspaper route ( but the ones where it is a once a week delivery, I think early morning delivery may be to difficult )

When I was a kid, my mom set up a chore system where I got paid a certain amount of money for chores each day. Back then (10-15) years ago, it was 75 cents for 2 chores each day. If I did them both, I would get that checked off and at the end of the week, if I was responsible enough and did all my chores I got my 10 bucks. It was a great way to make money and to learn that doing what you're supposed to gets rewarded. At the end of the week, if I hadn't done my chores, it was my own fault I didn't have any money!

Ask about allowance or try neighborhood aid(that's helping people outside their homes).

There are a lot of great recommendations already posted. However, I am a firm believer in working with your daughter to come up with solutions. Empower her and support her in thinking about how she can earn the money she needs.

One way to do this is to focus on her interests. I think that typical summer jobs are great to learn hard work, dedication, discipline, etc. Yet, how wonderful would it be that she could follow her interest and "enjoy" what she is doing for her to earn her income? What a great lesson to learn at an early age. This is a developmental approach that can assist when it comes time to making a decision on what to major in, what career choice is there, etc.

I call it the challenge vs. support approach to development. Give the challenge, but don't over shadow it with too much support. The scales need to be balanced.

I hope this helps!
