Can someone completely explain how you can sell things on ebay & earn money that way?

I had someone tell me that I should sell things on ebay so that I could earn some money. I am wondering how that works.

My friend said something about some people buying a lot of the same like whole sale & then selling each item. It isn't something I am familiar with on here.

Be like my friends and sell things for a little more expensive of a price than what they really are or make all your money on the shipping and handling.

And a good quality picture of your product is good too... dont sell too high and put the actual pix of your product. and make sure you're posting a 'high demand' item.

the formula is y-x= gainings
y= how much you sold it
x=how much you bought it
if u sell it for less u obviously endd up losing not gaining ur friend probably just meant get yourself some extra cash by selling things u don't use like a garage sale for the internet.

buy at 300am --cheap set it up to sell--end time 7-10.00 on a saturday get lots more money for your items it is not hard it is all timming and right clasifacations clasify wrong and lose money but that is where you buy and resell buy poorly clasified items cheap and resell

You really are better off to read the entire EBAY information pages.... then if you still have questions, come here - and ask SPECIFIC questions.

I have been selling on ebay for a year and am quitting because it ended up costing me money.
There are companies out there who do "Drop Shipping". You list their items on ebay and when you get an order the company sends it to your customer. You raise the price in your listing so you can make a profit, pay the drop shipper and keep the rest. Sounds so easy and it is. The problem is many people are selling the same items so you have to beat their prices, you also have to pay ebay for each listing and a percentage of the total sale amount. Many times when you go to order a product for your customer it is out of stock so you now have to deal with the embarrassment of telling them. And if a customer does not like an item you need to refund them and chances are you have already spent your profit by this time. I gave it a try, I hate to be a quitter but there are problems almost every day.
If you want to sell items that are already in your possession that is the best way to go

Your best bet is to go to the ebay answer center. Although no one is going to tell you where they get their items, becuase then you would be competing. Whatever you do, do not ever EVER use a dropshipper. The only one who ever makes money in those cases are the dropshipper. Not to mention most of their items are crap that a thousand other people are trying to sell also. You could use a wholesaler, but remember you will be buying lots by the thousands and have to have thousands of dollars to invest and then a facility to store it all.

And don't make money from your shipping fees. It's called Fee Circumvention and cause for suspension. Not to mention savvy buyers are on to that scam and won't buy from you.

The bulk of the "profits" from Ebay merchants comes from the shipping fees charged. Eg. Your item costs you $5, you post on ebay, and fix a reserve price of $5. Someone bids for it at $6, and if there is no more bidder, you close the bid. Do you make $1? No. You charge the bidder $5 for shipping but only spends $1.50 on it. Your total profit is $4.50 ($3.50 for shipping + $1 gross profit) on a $5 product.
