how does WebMD earn money? I know advertisements are the big thing but are there anything else? I am doing a school project which is to start a business. my group and i then decided to start a website similar to WebMD. Please also give us some advice on how we can make it better!

WebMD is onwed and operated by an association of the top drug manufacturers.

It is in my opinion one of the most dangerous places on the internet as far as misinformation is concerned.

Its underlying goal is to persuade people that they need to be on more drugs to solve their health problems, and therefore its content, although seemingly objective...is in actuality, severely bias....and unfortunately, it is considered an authoritative and safe resource.

What people don't realize is....all these new drugs that are coming out...(you know, the ones where half the commercial is spent telling you the 227 possible side effects), for all these new disorders that have been "discovered"...have not been thoroughly tested.

The FDA is quite possibly the most corrupt organaization on the face of the planet. It DOES NOT have your best interests at heart.

well figure basic click advertising is 1 to 5 cents per click, and I am sure there are multiple ones all over the site.

I am sure they get easily over 100,000 hits per day. So say just 50,000 people click a link, then times that by 365 days in a year. WebMD just made just shy of a million for the year.

I am sure they make much more and have a more complex cross marketing scheme going on, but least a basic number process shows a million in sales let alone profit, as there is no warehouse, building, signage, etc. Just a few web people in an office somewhere.
