I really want a bedroom remodel. I have had the same furniture for 8 years. It's getting real worn and none of it matches. My mom can't pay for a remodel so I told her I would earn the money for it. I already have $300 saved up but i need $900 more. I need to earn this money in the next four months but I have no idea how to. Please give advice and any ideas you might have!
P.S. I can't get a real job. I don't babysit either. if you can't get a real job or baby sit, then you are stuck with your old furniture until you can get a real job or baby sit. My question for you is why can't you get a real job? Yo might want to try and paint the old furniture, its doesn't have to match in style but at least in color it will. new bedding curtains. It doesn't have to be expensive to give the room a new look. All of what I have said could cost you about 200.00. And still have some left over for new clothes. paper route You could...
1. Wash neighbors' cars.
2. Mow lawns, or if you're in a colder clime, shovel snow.
3. Invest a *small* bit of that $300 in craft supplies and make things to sell on eBay or craigslist. ***Check first to see if what you can make will sell for a profit!***
4. Check out books from the library (free!) to learn about collectibles and/or antiques, then invest a *small* amount of money in buying good stuff from thrift shops to sell on eBay.
5. Go through your own personal stuff and choose stuff you can sell on eBay or craigslist. Anything goes, old jeans and other clothes, shoes that no longer fit, jewelry you don't wear anymore, old toys, etc.
6. Buy candy bars, chips, and other snacks to re-sell from your school locker. ***Make sure you won't get in trouble with school first!!!***
Now, not on the subject of earning money, but *saving* money... Can you do anything different with your current furniture? Is it real wood or cheap particle board? If it's still sturdy and functional, maybe you could repaint it or find another way to change it up. (If you have cable, HGTV and DIY are good resources for tricks you can do to fix up old furniture. If you can't watch the shows, you could look at their websites.)
Also maybe you could find other furniture to replace it, besides whatever's going to cost you $1200. You can check out craigslist to see what other people are selling cheap. (I got a very nice dining table & chairs, plus a buffet, a smaller decorative table, and all the linens and other decorations for them for only $200! All the stuff is in great condition and looks new!) You could also keep an eye on what's available at local thrift shops. Some of what they sell is junk, but they sometimes have great stuff for low prices.
And why don't you babysit? Is it a matter of choice? If you just don't like crying kids, maybe you should just suck it up and learn to deal with them. You can make very good money that way. If it's a matter of necessity, if there's some reason you *can't* babysit, that's understandable. You'll just have to find another way.
Whatever the case, good luck! I hope you get the bedroom makeover you want and get to keep some of your $$$ in your pocket! You should check out various second hand stores around your area. Sometimes you can find some great looking furniture for cheap. And if it's a couple years old, you'll know how it wears. Sometimes expensive new furniture is just cheaply made garbage. Hi...
I know what its like not to have money... I rarely have it myself... but if your short on money i always offer the same advice..
