What jobs am I qualified to do?

I've been an elementary school teacher for 9 years. People say I'm good at it, and I'm very popular with kids and parents. They always request "Mr. J." But I have a secret -- I don't enjoy my job. I say I do, act as if I do, but I feel little or no satisfaction from it. I don't hate it, but I certainly do not enjoy it.
I have a bachelor's degree in biology and a master's in education. I'm very good at building things and extremely handy.
Although I act easy going and respectful, I do not like working for a boss. I'm in my early 30's but have been able to accumulate over $600,000 mostly through real estate investing. This $600K+ does not include mymodest house which is paid off.
I'm not in a typical situation, nor am I a typical person. I'd really like some input to know what doors are open to me. I live in a rural area with a depressed economy, but made my wealth in the city during my 20's. I would like to remain living in a rural area.
Thanks
Mr.

Try browsing through the department of labor, occupational outlook handbook for ideas:

http://www.bls.gov/oco/home.htm

you could always work seasonal for h&r block and earn very decent money

Here's a thought, and you can live wherever you like. You have lot of knowledge and experience, are obviously adept at speaking in front of an audience (your classroom), so why not become a consultant? I realize this does not address your passion for building things, but it focuses more on your occupational background. If you do decide to become a consultant, you will be more credible if you have written a book, or even a course, for your seminar attendees. If you need help with that due to time restraints, you can look into a writing service such as Robor Writing and Editing (www.jeanbaileyrobor.com).
Whatever you choose to do, it should be something you truly enjoy. You may want to read 'The Law of Attraction' by Losier. It can help you focus on what you really want for the rest of your life. Good luck.

If you want to work independently, how about continuing on with your real estate investing. Seems like you are pretty good at it. You could be a carpenter.

Mr J,
Set up your own business with a website through which potential customers contact you, etc. Since you are good at building things maybe you look towards that direction for the particular business to set up. You commute to & from your jobs without leaving your rural base.

It's also possible to set up an entirely web based business (eg consultancy or writing biology or pedagogy books which you sell online), hence you do not have to move.

With your Education, experience & skills it should not be very difficult to find an online niche in which to operate, & I guess you will do well.

Goodluck

Mr. J,

I'm sorry that you do not enjoy your job. From what you say, you are extremely good at it. I remember all of my good teachers, even Mrs. Kincaid from 1st grade!

Unfortunately, I also remember Sister Mary, but I digress.

However, everyone needs to get that warm, fuzzy feeling from their jobs. I do, and it makes a world of difference.

While I'm not familiar with depressed, rural areas, I think you answered your own question. You can do real estate development in your town. You already have a good reputation.
