At 60 years old should I be in a Fund other than Fidelity Contra?

Want to make my money last through retirement. I started late and trade on Scottrade and have one fund Fidelity Contra..
Am I okay?

Hi,

Good to realise that you should invest rather than living it idle and "eaten" up by inflation. Better late than never. If you have some spare cash, you can invest in some good funds like China-India and Global Properties funds which has no time restriction to liquidate. If market price goes up, you can sell it or if price down, you can hold it or buy more ($cost averaging so that you can breakeven or gain more earlier). If you like to have more info. you can email me at my email:Catherine88_ice@yahoo.com.sg

Cheers....

depending upon how much $ you have, might want to diversify to a couple of other funds with different styles. Contra has become incredibly bloated and should have stopped new sales years ago. look in morningstar to see other funds.

Most of the brainiacs suggest maintaining a portfolio between 50% to $75% in equities.

If you've got a nice pension and will collect social security, then you might already have less than 50% of your retirement assets in non-equity positions. If so, then having your retirement portfolio entirely in equities may make sense.

Having said all of that, I'd suggest picking at least 2 other mutual funds.
