Choosing between T. Rowe Price, Merrill Lynch, etc., - Who should I invest with?

There are so many options:

Merrill Lynch
T. Rowe Price
John Hancock
Fidelity

I've pretty much given up on the smaller ones and Merrill Lynch's recent losses have made me weary of keeping my money with them.

I don't want to do the "auto-trade" and invest myself. I prefer to have money managed by an experienced investment firm and stay away from E-Trade and the like.

Would I be better off investing through my bank, Wells Fargo or Bank of America (I have accounts at both), or going through an investment firm? I've been working since the age of 16 and saved every last dime imaginable. I don't mind paying commissions and fees as long as I know my money is in the right hands. Any suggestions?

T. Rowe Price and Fidelity each offer low cost mutual funds with great management and consistent, solid returns. They also offer great IRA choices.
