Which 403B plan to join?? |
my employer offers only 403B plans from the following companies: TIAA Cref, ING, Lincoln, Fidelity investment. i have all these papers to read on each companies offer but its too confusing and i dont know where to go. Can anyone advise me what company and what plan from these companies to join?? Im 21 working $85K payiing way too much taxes!! Hopefully this will decrease the taxes! Thank u! i would go with ing!!! Look at fidelity, and make sure their not loaded funds. Check to see if they charge a fee for transfer, dollar cost averaging between funds, etc. This can add up. I would go with Fidelity because they have a wide range of mutual funds in their family. You might want to read "Mutual Funds For Dummies" for a clearer idea of what these companies offer. Many of my clients have 403b accounts. I would suggest Fidelity, especially if you can buy their No-load funds. They have a broad selection of funds. The second choice might be ING depending on their funds. If they only make ING funds available, then TIAA CREF might be a better choice. 403b plans are a great way to defer taxes on retirement savings, especially at such a young age. You can contribute up to $15,500 this year. You can also contribute upto $5,000 to a ROTH IRA account. This would be After-tax money, but the earnings are tax deferred and ultimately tax free. Be aware that you cannot borrow against 403b accounts, as you can with a 401k plan, but you can w/d from a Roth for a first time home purchase with out penalty. |
