Company funded pensions - can someone clarify/confirm? |
I was told by management that if you meet the companies annuitant status guidelines for retirement, but you are fired before you actually retire, you will not get annuitant status, thus you will not get your pension. I find this particularly hard to believe for the pension is governed by Federal regulations. Annuitant status is defined as being 55 years old and 15 years of service. You should read your company's pension program very carefully. They may have some very legal ways of getting out of it if they can prove some default on the employee's part. Believe it. There's no requirement that they offer a pension plan at all. |
