What do fund management marketers do and do they need much prior experience to work in the City?

Marketers would typically produce the material to show to clients. Sales would "sell" to clients. Some of the salesmen have a good understanding of what they are selling, some were in the right place at the right time. Contacts to sell to help - how many big ticket investors would pick up the phone is their secretary mentioned your name?
