Liquid High-yield savings accounts?

What are some high- yield savings accounts (5% or higher) that are farily liquid and have a minimum deposit of $1000 or less?

I actually spent some comparing several banks and I think HSBC is the best choice:

1) It ties for the highest interest rate savings account on the internet and has a $1 minimum for the 5.05% rate. The other, as mentioned in another posting, is emigrantdirect

2) The online interface is excellent and easy to use.

3) HSBC customer service over the phone is unbelievably good.

I would also suggest opening a checking account with ingdirect.com. There is no minimum balance and you get a 4.00% rate, which is at least 16 times what you are going to get at Bank of America or Wachovia.

If you get and HSBC savings and a ingdirect checking, you can connect the accounts on your HSBC account page. This way you can get a high interest rate on pretty much all your money.

Remember, there is one big drawback with ALL online accounts:

Even though all of them will talk about the tens of thousands of ATM locations, if you need to make a deposit, you need to mail in a check. Although, if you live in the Northeast, you maybe able to find some HSBC branch locations around. Thats the catch. If waiting an extra day or two to deposit a check is not a problem, then online savings and checking is great.

If it is, you can set up a low interest wachovia or Bank of America account and link it to your HSBC savings account so you deposit it in Wachovia and then transfer to HSBC.

In summary:

Highest interest rate method:

1) Ingdirect checking and HSBC savings

Fastest deposit method

1) BOA or Wachovia checking and HSBC savings

www.emigrantdirect.com and www.hsbc.com both offer 5.05%, no minimum deposit, no fees, no limitations on transfers. You fund via direct transfer from a bank account.

I have a capital one money market account.
There is no minimum and the interest rate is 4.65% or higher. My last statement it was 4.75%
No fees - no access limitations. Withdraw or add easily

Check out Umbrellabank.com. They usually have really high rates on Money Market Accounts.
