Broke, Will add to this. Thanks for looking.?

Hello, I'm desperate. Single older Mom with almost 5 year old. Was in business, but let it slide due to childcare and other emotional stuff. Sold and spent all my meagre funds, savings. Have a house but it will be bank owend soon, if I don't get an income.I'm trained in medical, but the shifts just don't suit. 11-7, 7-3, 3-11, because one way or another my child has to stay overnight, all nights with someone else. The 7-3 would mean me getting him up at 5.30 at the latest, to get him somewhere? so I could get to work. I have one of those horrible mortages on my home, 4 choices, and I have paid the minimum for the last 14 payments , or so. I owe to others,i.e, last payment for childs doctors visit, when I could not afford the insurance payment. Co-payments for speech therapy. I can't even afford to get my taxes done. I don't know if I will get Bush's gift of the $600 + $300. I have spent the last couple of years earning miserably, spending savings to pay bills. I'm broke.

Not in the mood to add much more. I too, don't have health insurance and would'nt qualify based on my 2006 earnings, yet I got through the latter half of 2006 and all of 2007 on my savings, investments. I don't know what answer I'm looking for, but anything that could help, and idea's. His Dad gives me $600 per month , when he feels like it. He pays for our childs daycare.I am owed for Jan, Feb and now Mar. His dad has a lot of rental properties. I have considered his contribution fair, but now that I'm desperate, what angle do I have. How do I hold down a job and pay for babysitters at such weird hours. Do I just give my son to his rich Dad so I can at least earn the mortgage payments .What about the utilities? What about health? Sorry, this just turned into a vent. Thanks to all who reply.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Being a single parent is certainly a tough situation (for your money, time, emotions...) for anyone.

You are going to have to get a job. It won't be easy. It won't be pleasant. But you have to work. I think your best bet is to suck it up and wake up at 5:30 to work 7-3. Many people do this, many get up even earlier... it's doable but not fun.

Some hospitals offer childcare very cheaply to employees. Definitely check out that option... the convenience of keeping your child where you work is a huge plus too.

Consider moving. Potentially good jobs are easier to get elsewhere. Maybe you could rent a place for less than you're paying in mortgage. Don't hold tight to a house you can't afford in a location that may not be ideal.

Get a job quickly whether you move or not. If you don't move, once you have a job talk to your bank and explain the situation about the mortgage. Tell them you really want to make good on the loan. See if they can work something out with you. They likely don't want to forclose on your house if there is a decent chance you'll make the payments.

As for the tax rebate ($600+$300): If you earned $3,000 in wages in 2007 you qualify for atleast some of this. You must file your tax return (even if you owe nothing) or they will not send you the rebate check. You will not get the full amount unless you owe a certain amount of taxes (I can't find the details about the child credit)... you will likely get $300 or $600 if you earned $3,000+ last year. The check will arrive in late May or early June as long as you file your tax return.

These are hard times for you. But you seem to really want to pull through both for yourself and for your child. Things will get better. I wish you the best!
