Can u help me with this on my taxes?

I'm 17. First time taxes. i'm trying to fill out this 1040EZ and so far it's not so easy
now, 1. what is taxable interest? Is it on my W2 form? How would I go about finding the ammount.
2. what is this unemployment compensation and alaska permanent fund thing? Does that even apply to me?

3. on the form there;s like a long line and then a vertical line and a shorter line, do I put dollar ammounts on the long line and cents on the smaller line or just use a decimal in the longer line

4/ How do I know what my earned income credit is?

5. by total payments does it mean I have to pay that? they already take like $15 a week from me, jeez

6.why does it keep saying refer to such and such a page when they only give u 2 pages?

I dont want to pay outrageous prices at H&R bBlock or anything please help

1) Unless you have interest on some investment that was paid to you, you don't need to worry about the taxable interest amount. If you did you would have received a 1099-int form.

2) Did you claim unemployment? if not, then don't worry about it. Also, you don't need to worry about the Alaska Permanent Fund if you don't live in Alaska.

3) That's correct. you can also round up to the nearest dollar, which may be easier for you.

4) You wouldn't have received earned income credit, so dont' worry about that.

5) Total tax payments, which means what you have already paid in federal income taxes (box on W-2 form)

6) Its refering to page numbers in the instructions. If you don't have the instructions, you can download it on the IRS webpage. It will be very helpful in your situation.

Good luck.

1. Taxable interest would be the interest you earned on an investment, such as a bank account. Your bank would send you a statement at the end of the year showing the interest.

2. Unemployment compensation is money you receive if you lose your job through no fault of your own, such as a layoff. The Alaska Permanent Fund only applies to residents of Alaska. It is money paid by the government because of the oil sales they make.

3. Longer line is for dollar amounts, shorter line is for cents. You can round off on your tax form to the nearest dollar.

4. This would require you to look at the instructions for a special table. Please note that generally you must have children or a very low income to qualify.

5. No, that is money you have already paid through your withholding from your paycheck.

6. You need the instruction booklet, available at any post office.

My advice to you would be to use one of the free tax services. I use www.freetaxusa.com myself. It will ask you a bunch of questions and then figure out your taxes for you with less hassle. There are other services as well that are also free available on the www.irs.gov site.

It seems that you do not have the instruction booklet for the form 1040EZ.
1. Interest is typically the amount that your money earns in your bank account. If you have earned more than $10 in interest you will receive a 1099INT. I would guess that you don't have such income.
2. Unemployment is the amount that you receive, if you qualify, after being layed off your job. You would receive a 1099G reporting this amount. I doubt that you have this kind of income.
3. The IRS prefers that you round your dollars and cents. So ignore the narrow column. So, if you have $3029.40, round it to $3029
4. If you are using the 1040EZ, it tells me that you have no children. Your age tells me you are likely single. Therefore, you do not qualify for EIC.
5. Total payments means the payments that you have made to the IRS. That is in the Federal Income Tax withheld box of your W2.
If you give more info, like total wages, total withholding, and whether your parents claim you as their dependent, I could give you a line by line accounting.
