How do I get a grant to do some much-needed remodeling at my public school?

Hi business folks-

I work at this great little public school serving a predominantly low-income community. We are in need of some major remodeling if we are to continue doing the great work we have in place. I'm looking to find some organization that will help us remodel our courtyard to create some much needed professional development/conference space, and rebuild our front office for the same purposes as well.

I don't even know where to begin looking, as I have no idea how much an endeavor like this would cost etc. I'm not even sure who might fund something like this.

Any suggestions?
