Income tax quesitons-- questions about file form 1040EZ?

In the following items not allowed for taxpayers who file Form 1040EZ
1.The child and dependent care credit and the child tax credit.(My question is--what is The child and dependent care credit? And What is the child tax credit?)Can you give me an example about them?
2.Any allowable filing status(what does that mean by allowable filing status?)
3.Capital gain distributions from mutual funds( What is that?)

For part one if you don't have children it doesn't apply to you. Parents get so much $ per child each year. Kinda like a discount. If you have children you would want to use a different form.
The only thing that I know filing status refers to is if you are married or single. So I would suppose that it is saying that you can use this form if you are married or single.
The portion about mutual funds....I am not sure, but if you do not have any mutual funds then it doesn't apply to you so you could use that form.
