Is primerica a reliable source of income?

I was offered a job at primerica.....I dunno if i should take it or not. I have no experiance in the field at all but im willing and eager to learn. She came at me at the perfect time! Im a full time student and currently not working. My funds are running super low, and she just came out of nowhere. Can I trust them? would it be a reliable job? help!!

EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON!!!

If you live in the USA, you will pay 99$ upfront and $25 a month.you should know in maybe 2 months whether or not Primerica is right for you ( you may not be making alot of money, but you will get a feel for the buis and what Primerica does).

So after 2 months you will be $150.00 invested right? And in 2 months (depending on your trainer) you should be through your training (6 appointments). There is a scholarship if you complete 6 training appointments you get $199.00 so after 2 months you will actually be $50.00 ahead.

Now i'd like to add, the above scenario is how we do it in our office, the office that you go to may be different, all you have to do is ask.

Secondly, It is not a Job. You will be an Independent Representitive, you will get a 1099 tax form from the company showing your wages.

As far as trust, i would love to sit here and say yes, BUT the fact is, there are all kinds of people in this world, some are the real deal and some are trying to take advantage. i cannot vouch for your contacts moral compass. Can you trust Primerica as a corporate entity? Yes you can.

Lastly, the reliability of Primerica and it's ability to pay your bills rests firmly on your shoulders and yours alone, if you want it to be reliable income it will be, but if you sit around and wait for everything it will not.You must be proactive, i know this from experience.

P.S. A "pyramid" is defined by the following points AND they are outlawed in all 50 states.

1. Recruiters are paid for recruiting people.(1 new recruit may equal a check for say $50.00)
2. Recruits are required to buy materials (books, presentations etc etc) said materials are marked up and the person selling them makes a profit.
3. Recruits are charged for attending seminars, it is not the being charged that makes this unlawful but rather the fact that the person you buy your ticket from payed half what they're charging you, thus they are making a profit.
4. You can not pass or get promoted over the person who recruited you, meaning : if i was involved in a "pyramid"and i recruited you, you can never never get out from under me, no matter how hard you work, no matter how much product you sell.No matter what you can never get promoted to a position above me.

It depends. They can be helpful for financial advice (of coarse this depends of the FA) BUT they then want you to join their pyramid and they do this by explaining that in any company it is a pyramid.

I did it for a while, made it to Senior, and then I got pregnant and couldn't make the night appointments. Then the people who bought the life insurance and other things we sold, cancelled and I had to pay back the money I'd made.

Then Primerica convinced me through weekly motivational speeches and classes and group meetings that I really had to attend one of their conferences which cost money I didn't have so they said to use a credit card because this was too important to miss. It was a neat conference, but honestly, getting to the level they are at where they make money that supports an income is a lot of work and exhausts your friend and contacts that might get annoyed by your persistant calls on Sunday.

Good luck.

Well, this really depends. Do you want to harrass your friends and family members into buying life insurance and other products that they cannot afford or do not really want? That's how you get your training and you don't even make any money off of that unless you've already taken the tests and gotten your license. Even then, you wouldn't get very much money, but the person above you in the "pyramid" would get quite a bit.
My husband did this for 3 months when we lived in Michigan. He's a natural born seller. He could sell ice to an Eskimo. But he has a good heart and refused to harrass people into buying things that he knew wouldn't do them any good or they couldn't afford. He made $400 in those 3 months! Also, the person above you in the "pyramid" will want to sit down and do a financial sheet (I forget what they are actually called) on you and get you to purchase life insurance and other things so they can make money off of you!
Also, if you did make a sale of a product, you wouldn't see any profits from that sale for several months. If the person you sold the product too cancelled before their 10th monthly payment, you have to REPAY the money you were already paid for it! I personally think the whole thing is a crock and that you should steer clear of it!

Well this differcult to say. I am a rep of Primerica. Which is a aswome company for their clients and people who come on board with the company. Most people who join Primerica has no experiance in the field, so your not alone. The way Primerica work is like going to college the first few years, your basically learning how to do things just like school but instead of spending $30 - $40 k on college, you can make some good money. I felt the same way myself and I know how you feel with the funds running low. I personally look for people who are good, honest, caring people, with people skills to bring on board. Because this is not a job offer, this is a business offer and I want those types of people to represent my business within Primerica. Can you trust an company that has been in business for over 30 years, with over 6 million clients, 5,000 plus people that started the same way you are starting that now earns over 6 figures a year, I say yes you can. Not a JOB!! Your effort earns you money if your lazy you will earn little, but if you work hard you can earn lots. My effort is different than yours, you may actually earn alot at first where I did not. I also say it is a business for the strong and not for everyone. Many people join and quit before they even get licenced to do anything and blame it on Primerica for their failures. Harrassing family and friends ... wow! Is that what I do? Well thats fine many of my friends and family are now prepared with a financial game plan to get out of debt, build a emergency fund and a retirement nestegg so they can retire comfortabally, protect them from the loss of a income while they do it. Let the harrassment continue if it gets them out of debt at 60 with $1,000,000 to live on or more. Because my family has suffered long enough retiring at 65 with very little or no money to live on , depending on the government to pay the very bare basics, with their every choice made by if I have enough money to do it. The compesantion plan is different, it goes in cycles for each product , life insurance for example is generally 10 days from sale to payday, mortgages take generally 45 days for the mortgage to close which you do not get paid until it closes, etc. I should have 2 loans closing this month that I did in early Dec. which should pay me close to $1,500 and 3 life sales that will pay me $1,000 by the end of this month with business expenses of about $400 for the month in travel, which the IRS will pay 48.5 cents per mile for such expenses

First thing you should know that this is not a job, but a business opportunity. As with any person starting a business, you would first need money to start it up. At Primerica, you don't need much to start the business. You only need $99 and $25/month after that. This registers you with your state's insurance department and gets you into licensing school. In licensing school, you are going to learn valuable details about life insurance and annuities. It also pays for your securities license when you reach the District Leader position. In some states, you can be mortgage certified by attending a debt certification class, which is only about 30 minutes long. Primerica is a very regulated company. That's why you need all these licenses.

The $25/month part is where you get a complete support system from Primerica Online. You get your own Primerica's website. You have your own Primerica email account. You can view productivity report of your business. You can view some information about your clients. You get financial tools. Everything you need to grow your business can be found by going online.

As for the answer to your question, this is definitely not a reliable source of income for new representatives. If you understand how any business works, you going to need to work hard to see results. Most businesses don't see any profits in their first year. At Primerica, you can start making profits within a month or two because you didn't need lots of money to start the business. If you work hard at the beginning, eventually you will start seeing results. If you work consistently, your business will eventually be able to run on its own and you will be financially independent.

Anyway, you should check out the company and get some understanding about what the company do for people. After that, you should talk to the representative about why she join the business and ask any questions you may have.

I recently retired and was approached by Primerica to be an agent. Since I was interested in a part-time job, I responded and have attended a few meetings. However, everyone needs to understand that Primerica does not offer a JOB; it offers a business. If you have an "employee" mindset (show up and get paid) it won't work for you; you need a "business" mindset (only get paid for what you actually do, and the better you are, the more you earn).

There is a minimal upfront fee ($99 in Canada) which covers training and exam fees (you need to be licensed by the government), plus a monthly charge of $25 for using their web-based client management software. This is all the overhead you pay, which is much less than trying to run an office on your own.

You start by contacting friends and family, just like most other small businesses. If you do a good job for them, they will provide referrals for additional prospects. You have to satisfy your clients in order to build your business.

Primerica also works by having you recruit additional agents to work under you. This is exactly the same as any other business; the higher-ups get paid more than the ones at the bottom. It sounds like a "pyramind scheme", but it's just more open and transparent; all companies are a pyramid, with the highest-paid boss at the top and the lowest-paid employees at the bottom.

Primerica's main disadvantage is that many of their agents, particularly new ones, aren't as knowledgeable as they should be. Like any other business, you have to know what you're talking about.

I haven't finished my courses or taken the exams yet, but I am looking forward to seeing how it works out. There's a lot of negative stuff about Primerica on the internet, but most of it comes from people who have the wrong idea or mentality. To repeat, Primerica is not a job. It's like buying a franchise to run yourself.
