Should I witdraw funds from an IRA to pay off charge card debt? I owe 14000. My income is 12000.?

I have 60000 in the IRA. I'll need to withdraw additional funds to cover taxes and penalties.

i would not do it. I know it sounds like a good idea, but after all of teh penalty and taxes, you would loose alot of money and then not have it in your ira. I would try to consolodate the debt and speak with the people to see if you could work out a plan. Maybe even borrow some money from someone and pay it back.. but i tend to think it is a bad idea to take out of an ira except for an emergency, or for buying a house with there is an exemption for..

Can you live without $12,000 for 1year and two months?
I will not suggest you withdraw that because you can get penalties and taxes. If you have a house, try to get home equity and pay out first. Or try to transfer high credit card rate to low credit card. Or you can work 2nd job, overtimes, spend less to pay out credit cards every month.

a smarter approach would be increase your income not take a 40% penalty charge.
deliever pizza $1000 mth , cut lawns extra 800$ mth, cut back on expenses.
seriously increase your income.

No- try to get through this 'rough' time as best you can, a few years down the road you`ll be very happy that you left your IRA intact.
