Is there such a thing as low income down payment assistance to get a house if u need it?

Me and my husband have 4 kids and need to get a new house ASAP. Not an apartment or substidized housing a home of our own. But our credit and funds are low. The house that we have now was a starter house and was older when we got it. It's breaking apart and the kids are outgrowing it big time. It costs too much to fix it and from reliable sources it's not worth it either. We need a new house and from friends and some people I've heard that their might be agencies or organizations that can help low income families or indiviuals optain the dream of owning a home. If anyone knows about this, please help us out we need to do this for our kids. they are 9,7,6,and 5.

It depends where you live, I live in texas and know of a program that the YWCA offers: The YWCA believes that we can create a community where all women and children have a safe place to live. Many local YWCAs offer the following types of housing and shelter services.

Emergency Housing - time-limited housing for women, children and families.
Transitional Housing - housing for women, children and families who are working toward self-sufficiency, and preparing to move into permanent housing.
Permanent Housing - affordable rental housing.
In addition to helping prevent families from becoming homeless, the YWCA also provides programs to meet the special needs of homeless families, including services for domestic violence victims, access to affordable health care and respite care for homeless women recovering from serious illness.

Check with your local YWCA for more information.
